Before you begin
Pick your art supplies.
What do you have on hand?
- Pencils
- Watercolours
- Acrylics
- Felt Pens
- Highlighters
- Pastels
- You can use anything!
Pick your colour palette.
Go crazy or make a plan.
- Black and white
- Shades of one colour
- Rainbow Colours
- Fluoro Colours
- Pastel Colours
- Limited Colours
- Lots of options
Finish with at least two extras.
This makes all the difference!
- Add a border
- Add a background
- Add a shadow
- Add highlights
- Add collage
- Add their name
- Add some patterns
- Add some sparkle!
It’s time efficient to colour a few cards at a time!
Here I’ve used acrylics, with a #10 flat brush. On the first one I’ve added a table colour, on the second I’ve added words and on the third I’ve added a shadow.
Stay loose! If you can still see the white card through the gaps, that’s ok!
The most important thing is that the card is painted with love and given on time. So if you don’t have much time, push your fast forward button and do it! If you’ve got heaps of time, enjoy yourself!
Ideas for your greeting inside.
Remember your handwriting is unique to you. It’s precious! Just be you!
Think of what they like.
Write from your heart.
Choose a lyric, a poem, a headline if you like.
Remember a favourite joke or memory.
Sign it with all the love you feel.
Envelopes can be fun too!
Add some colour.
Write BIG. Write small (but be legible).
Add some collage.
Add some bling.
Wiggle your lines.
Add a smiley face, an angel or a flower.
Add a love heart. It’s simple.
Remember to give or post it!
It’s simple, but I’ve forgotten to send the card I’ve written a few times… so I thought I’d mention it.
