Fields of Hope

Fields of Hope

Just a couple of weeks ago I was asked (by my friend Jo Capp) if I’d like to create a Daffodil themed Paint Along to help launch Daffodil Day here in Toowoomba. How could I say no? It was a Paint Along subject I hadn’t covered yet and I knew I could create a design that would work in a three hour session.

So I designed “Field of Hope”.

We painted this shiny happy floral in my studio on Tuesday 12 August and I was absolutely delighted with how everyone went.

We even had one of our local Councillors, Geoff McDonald, show up…

and we got in the paper!

I was delighted to be on the panel that thought up the idea of ‘the coffee conversation’ and these takeaway coffee cups are the result.

If you’re a lady over 40 and haven’t had a mammogram lately, this is a message from the universe 😉

I was recently asked to do a mural in a mammogram room at Breastscreen Queensland (Toowoomba Hospital). I’ve done quite a few murals at the Toowoomba Hospital over the years, and the object of the game in this room is ‘distraction’, so there had to be a lot of quirky details.

And then there were the seasons themselves of course.
But the real message is that if you’re over 40 and due for a mammogram, please go and get one. They’re free through Breastscreen Queensland. You make a time to come in, two doctors will read your images and if things are caught early you’re in good hands. I’ve had two friends go through it quite recently. Please just do it.

Pickup the phone and make an appointment. While you’re on hold, you can check out the other murals you might see if you’re a Toowoomba-ite…
