How many times do you have to do a thing for it to become a habit?

The book ‘Atomic Habits’ talks about ‘habit stacking’ – “One of the best ways to build a new habit is to identify a current habit you already do each day and then stack your new behavior on top.”

Research shows it only takes between 21 and 40 days to develop a habit, so what seems big today may be your morning routine in three weeks time.

So if you want to learn to draw, you can build a happy, art-making habit by stacking the act of drawing for 2 minutes onto your habit of sitting down with a tea or coffee.

It’s a great alternative to scrolling on your phone (use your phone as a timer instead), and by the end of the month you’ll have a sweet collection of sketches (things always look better in a collection) AND it’s a great way to learn to draw.

Give it a go. 😃

And if you really want to learn to draw, check out my workshop, Shiny Happy Drawing. It includes over 20 drawing projects that will keep you interested and grow your skills.
